Laboratory of Physics of Macromolecular Systems
Laboratory of Physics of Macromolecular Systems (LPMS) was constructed almost entirely from funds raised through grants from the Scientific Grant Agency (VEGA). Recently, its development involved the Institute of Experimental Physics, Slovak Academy of Sciences in Kosice, due to the collaboration with which the LPMS will be able to use some modern equipment to study the rheological properties of solutions of biological macromolecules and suspensions of various micro-
|
Currently the LPMS study is focused on fundamental physical properties of polymer fluids in an effort to understand their responses to the effects of regular and random external force fields, the role of hydrodynamic interactions in these solutions, explaining the importance of interactions between the segments of macromolecules and their flexibility, volume interactions, and resolving issues on the existence and a possible relevance of intrinsic viscosity in polymers. We also study the anomalous phenomena in complex fluids, which cannot be described within the framework of existing theories.
